With the arrival of CSS containers which allow more subtle placing of elements on a webpage, I have used them to improve the look and feel of the site and make it more screenreader friendly. You can find out more about this on the HTML and CSS page.

Some biographical notes

I decided to become a Christian at the age of 16 and much of my life has been spent in trying to work out what that involves in practice.

Though my career initially took me towards the social sciences, I have always retained an interest in the natural sciences and in the philosophy and history that I had studied at university.

Several people throughout my life have had a formative impact on my development which has involved, among other things, a deep interest in gender issues and interests in adult development, management and systems thinking. Systems thinking has informed my understanding both of the natural world and the social relationships which we have and of what it means to be a Christian.

I began to use computers in 1980 initially to produce printed material and over the years I have become an academic copy-editor and typesetter. I soon realised that I could automate a lot of routine tasks by learning scripting and programming. I started using Linux in 2000 and found it so superior to Windows 98 that I have continued to develop my computing skills primarily in this area.

I decided in 2011 that it was time to turn my attention to web publishing and this site represents one fruit of those efforts.

The pages and papers presented here are a fraction of those I have produced over my lifetime but represent my current thinking, sometimes developed many years ago or over many years.
